视觉艺术

Central to our program is the belief that fluency in art allows students to know themselves more deeply while connecting with the community and the larger world.
Students learn to master the skills and content associated with the elements and principles of art and design; the contextualization of global art history and studio practice supports this learning. Each student develops ideas using their creative process, discovering and utilizing their authentic expressive voice. 在伯威克, we know that students learn best through tactile exploration with media and tools and that our students learn critical thinking, 弹性, 创造性表达.

在贝里克学院, we value the creative work of our student artists, and student art is exhibited both on and off campus. Our students enjoy several opportunities to share their work and see the work of others; we display student art throughout our buildings and public spaces, as well as the more formal exhibitions in our gallery spaces in the Patricia Baldwin Whipple 艺术 Center and the 杰克逊图书馆 Gallery. Students may participate in large shows such as the Annual Student Art Show and the Senior Studio Art Exhibit. 另外, student work may be selected for the Art around Campus, a rotating exhibition of framed student work which graces our public spaces on campus. 在校外, our students are regularly involved in exhibitions at the Portland Museum of Art (Youth Art Month), Maine College of Art (Scholastics Regional Art Exhibit), 谷仓画廊(奥根奎特, ME), and community collaborative exhibits.
